The Alexander Technique is a subtle and practical process which helps you become more aware of your activities and the habits that accompany them. Lessons are normally 50-60 minutes and are tailored to the individual client, allowing them to reach their full potential.
You will learn tools and skills to prevent harmful habits that can aggravate, or may be the cause of pain, stress, and underperformance. I will skillfully with light touch guide you through movement and activities such as walking, standing, sitting, or a more specific activity that relates to your circumstances. You will begin to discover your postural habits and unconscious patterns and reactions that limit your potential – you will become more aware of your imbalances and begin to experience your potential of moving and functioning with poise, balance, ease, and presence.
If you are a performer, actor, musician, or athlete; we will work with your activity and create a coordination plan around whatever it is you do.
You will rediscover your natural innate sense of balance, healing, and well-being.
Students learn to use the tools of conscious intention/ inhibition and conscious direction. Also in lessons, Nicholas will take photos and video for analysis.
The Technique involves no specific exercises, requires no special equipment, and can be practiced wherever you are. It is suitable for people of all ages and levels of physical fitness.
Part of the lesson may include lying down in the classic Alexander Technique semi-supine position which allows maximum support for the back to relax and expand.
Although you will not be engaging in any kind of strenuous exercise, the lesson relies on your active participation.
With my ongoing support and encouragement, you will explore and learn skills to rediscover how you can experience being more balanced, coordinated, present, peaceful, and alive.
The benefits will become apparent very quickly, and you will notice:
